FOR THINK TANKS & RESEARCH ORGANIZATIONS

Put your research in play.

WarPaths turns a published report into a single-player wargame your audience plays. Upload the report, edit the scenario WarPaths drafts from it, approve it, and send one invite link. Readers take a seat in the crisis your analysis describes and reason through it turn by turn. What comes back is engagement, not downloads.

Your published report → A game your audience plays. Engagement, not downloads.

What does the organization do?

Upload a report as a PDF. WarPaths reads it and drafts a scenario from it: the actors, the tensions, a crisis structure with decision turns, advisors with opposing views, and the criteria your participants are scored against. The draft cites the passages it drew on, so you can check its reading against your source.

Then you edit. You keep the pen: review, modify and approve the game before release. The authoring workflow walks the draft step by step; sharpen the actors, rewrite the turn questions, cut what does not serve the exercise. Before publishing, a validation report flags turns where one answer is too obviously right.

Approve the game and it is live for your audience and only your audience. Set an invite cap, mint your invite link, and distribute it however you reach your readers. The link works for 30 days and stops at the cap.

What does your audience do?

They open your link, create an account of their own, and play: several decision turns in the role you built, weighing your scenario’s advisors and evidence and writing their decisions in their own words. At the end each participant receives an individual evaluation of their strategic reasoning across five dimensions.

You can hold the whole cohort at a turn and release them together, or let each participant move at their own pace.

What does the organization receive?

Each participant’s responses and scores, under a pseudonym; a consolidated read of how the cohort reasoned about your research; and, if you add one, a post-game survey you write yourself, with per-question results and a CSV export.

  • Direct feedback on your report
  • Indicators of new research avenues
  • Engagement and completion signal
  • Comparative judgment data across your audience

The boundary is fixed. Participants’ individual answers and evaluations belong to them, and their account is theirs to keep. Your view of the cohort is pseudonymous: participants appear as codes, never as names.

Is your content public?

No. A game you author never appears in the public WarPaths catalog. Nobody reaches it without your link, and the link stops working at your cap or after 30 days.

What about consultancies?

The same mechanics work for a client-facing engagement. A resilience, continuity or policy report becomes a game the client’s staff play; the cohort is private, the consultancy keeps the pen, and the read on how the client’s people reasoned is the deliverable.

How do you start?

Access is by request during the beta. Choose the research institution option on the request form and tell us which report you have in mind. Requests are reviewed, and invitations go out as the beta opens.
